Call Tracking for Contractors
Most of your leads come by phone, and without call tracking you are guessing which marketing made the phone ring. The catch is that the common setup, a tracking number on your Google profile, quietly hurts your local rankings. We set it up the way that measures every channel without costing you a single position.
The phone rings all day, and you still cannot say which marketing dollar actually made it ring.
The numbers
The dataYou Are Spending on Four Channels and Crediting None of Them
· The ProblemYou run a Google profile, mail postcards, put numbers on yard signs and trucks, and rank in organic search. The phone rings and jobs get booked, but when it is time to decide where next quarter’s budget goes, you are working from a hunch, because the same number rings for every source and nobody at the front desk writes down where the caller came from.
So you reach for the obvious fix, put tracking numbers everywhere, and if the setup is cheap it puts a tracking number as your Google profile’s primary phone. That single choice creates a mismatch against every other listing of your real number, and Google has long favored the real one, so the tool you bought to measure marketing ends up suppressing the local rankings that were feeding you calls in the first place.
The safe setup keeps your real number as the Google primary and layers tracking underneath it, so your citation consistency stays intact while every call still gets tagged to a source.

What Call Tracking Includes
· Service RegisterWe handle the mechanism and the safe setup. The measurement plumbing, not the dashboard, which is where the marketing KPI system picks it up.
Audit, Configure, Attribute
· The ProcessWe check how your number is currently set across your Google profile and citations, and flag any tracking setup that is already putting your rankings at risk.
We put dynamic insertion on the website, assign a number to each offline channel, and configure your profile the NAP-safe way, with your real number kept as the primary.
Calls start arriving tagged to their source, and that clean source data flows into the KPI system so budget decisions run on what actually made the phone ring.
See exactly which channel earns the call, and pay for it in budget clarity instead of lost rankings.
Call Tracking, Answered Straight
· QuestionsWill call tracking numbers hurt my Google ranking?
They will if a tracking number is set as your Google Business Profile primary, because it no longer matches your real number across the rest of the web, and Google favors consistency. They will not if your real number stays the primary and the tracking is layered underneath, or if dynamic insertion only swaps the number shown on your website. The setup is the whole difference, and getting it wrong is the single most common way call tracking backfires.
What is the difference between dynamic insertion and a number per channel?
Dynamic number insertion is for your website: it swaps the displayed number based on how the visitor arrived, so online sources get separated automatically. A static number per channel is for offline marketing, a fixed number on the postcard, the yard sign, the truck, so each of those gets its own trackable line. Most contractors need both.
Is call recording legal?
It depends on your state. Some require only one party to consent, others require both, and the rule can turn on where the caller is too. We configure recording with the appropriate consent notice for your situation, and this is a setup we handle, not legal advice, so your attorney is the final word on your specific case.
How is this different from the full marketing KPI system?
This is the call-capture mechanism, the tracking numbers, the insertion, the safe configuration. The dashboards, the revenue attribution, and the KPI reporting that turn tagged calls into budget decisions are part of the marketing KPI system. This page sets up the plumbing, that one reads the water.
Do I need this if Google already shows my call history?
Google’s profile shows calls that came from the profile itself, which is one channel. It does not tell you about calls from your website, your print, or your yard signs. Call tracking covers every source in one place, so it complements the Google data rather than repeating it.
Can you set this up without changing my main number?
Yes, and that is the point. Your real number stays exactly where it is, as your Google primary and across your listings, and the tracking numbers are added on top. Nothing about your existing number or how customers reach you has to change.
